Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus said "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all I have commanded you. Surely I am with you to the very end of the age."

WARMUP WEEKEND

Warmup Weekend is our compulsory training, planning, and bonding weekend in November. Everyone coming on mission is expected to be there.

Scripture Union requires that we do certain child protection and risk management training sessions, and it's important that we have time to discuss and finalise plans and gospel presentations a few weeks out from mission. It also means that when we arrive at Bawley we're already a team - we've got the small talk out of the way.

DATES: 25-27 November 2022

LOCATION: Kedumba House, 113 Cliff Drive, Katoomba 2780 - turn off cliff drive into the long driveway by the oval

STARTS: 8pm on Friday night, for team supper

ENDS: Lunchtime on Sunday

BRING: Bible & pen; clothes; toiletries; sleeping bag/sheets/pillowcase; your talk/curriculum/plans for mission.

COST: Included in team fees.

TEAM FEES

Team fees are a hassle, but they're essential to making mission run well. Our fees pay for:

  • Food and campsite booking

  • Mission resources (printing, materials for activities, coffee cart etc)

  • Equipment (tents, ropes, storage, repairs etc)

  • Insurance

  • Training & support from SU

  • Warmup Weekend

Fees for 2022 are TBC

If you can't afford that, there might be a solution. Would someone from your church sponsor you to come? It's sometimes possible to organise a payment plan or a subsidy. Get in touch at bawleysufm@gmail.com and we can talk about it - there's no shame in that! Financial hurdles shouldn't be the reason you don't come on mission!

Fees should be paid before December 17 by transfer to the following account:

  • Name: SUFM Bawley Point

  • BSB: 032-373

  • Acc. No: 19-7252

  • Descr: Your name

GETTING THERE

Racecourse Beach Tourist Park is at 381 Murramarang Rd, Bawley Point. On a clean run, that's about 4 hours from Sydney - but it can take much longer in post-Christmas traffic.

Arrive by 6:30 for team dinner on the 27th.

Park your car just of the road out front, along the fence by the oval. We'll give you a boom gate code closer to the date, just in case you need to drive inside the park itself.

THE BEACH

Racecourse beach is not patrolled, and it can be very dangerous: rough surf, lots of rips, and a few drownings in recent years. That means that swimming is not part of our official program - though we will run events down on the sand.

You're allowed to swim during free time, but it's our policy that everyone swimming in the ocean does these 3 things:

  1. Tell a director or assistant director that you are going

  2. Go in a group of people, with someone who knows how to read the surf

  3. Be careful - stay well within your comfort zone

We also ask everyone to wear board shorts and a shirt or rashie when they swim - both for sun protection and for modesty.
