Mission is worthwhile & fun, but it's resource intensive and does involve a substantial cost.

Every year there are things to repair and replace: split hammer handles, dodgy fridges, ripped tarps, bent poles. Mission survives on mountains of cable ties and gaffa tape. There's insurance, evangelism resources, coffee and sausages to give away, and plenty of printing - and then there's food and accommodation for 10 days.
